Ashley W. Cooper, of Bridgeport, was driving southbound in the left lane of the northbound side of the parkway in a Nissan Altima around 10:55 p.m. Tuesday when she ran head-on into a GMC Acadia, driven by Jeffrey Butler, 51, of Shelton, said Trooper Kelly Grant.

The impact of the crash caused Butler to lose control of his vehicle, sending him slamming into a third vehicle driven by William McGeorge, 54, of Trumbull, Grant said.

Butler and one of his passengers were injured and transported to St. Vincent's Hospital. McGeorge was not injured, Cooper, the wrong-way driver, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for her injuries, Grant said.

Cooper was arrested following treatment and charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and driving the wrong way on a divided highway.
